Ask questions of your spreadsheets — and join them to everything else
DataLens AI answers plain-English questions about Google Sheets, CSV and Excel files with no database or credentials to set up. Targets, budgets and offline sales that live in spreadsheets can be joined with Google Ads, Meta Ads and BigQuery data in the same answer.
What can you ask spreadsheets?
“How is spend tracking against the monthly budget in this sheet?”
Pacing by channel against the targets in your sheet, with the projection method shown.
“Join our offline sales sheet to Google Ads campaigns by date.”
A combined table of ad spend and offline revenue, with the join key stated.
“Which regions in this CSV are below last quarter?”
A ranked comparison with the grouping and date filters spelled out.
“Summarise this Excel export by week and chart it.”
A weekly aggregation and chart, exportable to CSV, Excel or PNG.
How do you connect Google Sheets, CSV & Excel to DataLens?
- Google Sheets: paste the link to a sheet shared as "anyone with the link" or published to the web. DataLens stores only a small reference and fetches the sheet live on the server when you ask, so there is no row cap.
- CSV and Excel: drop a file or paste data. It is parsed in your browser, up to 50,000 rows.
- Pick a tab, give each column a role (group by, sum, average and so on), add filters, and edit the setup later.
What DataLens can and cannot do
- No credentials are needed, so nothing about your Google account is shared to read a sheet.
- CSV and Excel files stay in the browser; Google Sheets are fetched on demand rather than copied into storage.
- A bundled demo dataset lets you try a real question before connecting anything.
More detail on credentials, encryption and model providers is on the security page.
Google Sheets, CSV & Excel integration FAQs
Does the Google Sheet have to be public?
It has to be readable by link: shared as "anyone with the link can view" or published to the web. DataLens does not ask for Google Drive permissions, so it can only read sheets shared that way.
Is there a row limit?
CSV and Excel files are parsed in the browser and capped at 50,000 rows. Google Sheets are fetched live on the server when you ask a question, so they have no row cap.
Can I combine a spreadsheet with ad or warehouse data?
Yes. A sheet of targets, budgets or offline sales can be joined with Google Ads, Meta Ads or BigQuery data in the same question.
